SNI certification stands for Standar Nasional Indonesia, which translates to the Indonesian National Standard. As the sole standard applicable within Indonesia, SNI standards are developed by technical committees and defined by the National Standardization Agency of Indonesia (BSN). Manufacturers who pass the Indonesian product certification scheme are permitted to use the Indonesian quality mark.
Currently, regulated products are categorized into four groups: household electronics, telecommunications and IT equipment; construction materials; automotive parts and materials; and other goods (such as footwear, leather products, toys, apparel, etc.). These are detailed in Appendices I to IV of the relevant regulation. The list of automotive parts and materials includes: tires (for cars and motorcycles), batteries/automotive batteries, bearings, disc brake pads and vehicle brakes, spark plugs, brake fluid, vehicle mirrors, vehicle ball joints, filters, safety glass, carburetors, ignition coils, clutches and their parts, automotive nuts, vehicle rims (Pelek untuk Kendaraan Bermotor), leaf springs, vehicle audible warning devices, telescopic/hydraulic shock absorbers, pistons, vehicle radiators, vehicle chains, belts, vehicle safety belts, and automotive lighting systems and their components.
DJID
On January 13, 2025, the former SDPPI (Direktorat Sumber Daya dan Perangkat Pos dan Informatika) was renamed DJID (Direktorat Jenderal Infrastruktur Digital), or the Directorate General of Digital Infrastructure. DJID is responsible for the certification management of telecommunications equipment in Indonesia, ensuring that devices comply with technical standards, safeguarding communication security, and promoting the rational use of the radio spectrum. The agency aims to ensure the reliable and safe use of telecommunications products within Indonesia, prevent interference between devices, and maintain the stability and reliability of wireless communication networks. Certification effectively protects consumer rights by mitigating potential risks associated with non-compliant equipment. DJID certification is a mandatory requirement for telecommunications products to enter the Indonesian market; products without certification cannot be sold in Indonesia.
Scope of DJID Certification
ØRadio Equipment: Includes cellular mobile devices, Bluetooth devices, laptops, mobile phones, WLAN equipment, etc.
ØTelecommunication Terminal Equipment: Includes mobile phones, routers, base stations, etc.
ØOther Wireless Communication Devices: Include smart wearable devices, IoT terminal equipment, etc.
