ADR certification (Australia Design Rules) is a mandatory vehicle approval system established in Australia based on the Vehicle Standards Act 1989 (VMS A1989). This system is managed by the Vehicle Safety Standards Department (VSS) under the Department of Transportation and Regional Services (DOTARS). Starting from July 1, 2021, the Road Vehicle Standards Directive 2018 (RVSA) will be fully implemented to replace the old regulations, and the ROVER system will be used to achieve full process electronic supervision. Certification is divided into three types: large batch, small batch, and very small quantity, covering the entire vehicle (including electric vehicles) and 23 types of components. Heavy vehicles and dangerous goods transport vehicles must comply with exclusive instructions. Manufacturers need to obtain certification licenses through laboratory testing, technical document review, production consistency review, and other processes.
